Time to make the most of the summery sun. To pack up, head out and unwind. Whilst we want to make use of the abundance of fresh produce in this season, convenience is also key to having an enjoyable and relaxed time with family and friends. Hummus has a wonderful diversity - you can make it ahead of a casual family picnic or easily make it at the time of a formal gathering.
The key to making a hummus special I believe, lies in the texture and fresh flavours. In comparison, storebought hummus does not even come close to the depth of flavour you can achieve by combining a few simple fresh ingredients into your blender at home.
The smooth, creamy texture is also unparalleled to those slightly gritty hummus’s you find in the store. I choose to cook the chickpeas (boil) with baking soda for 15 minutes which softens the skins, resulting in a perfectly smooth texture. If you are running short on time, feel free to skip this step however I highly recommend it to achieve the best results.
