Good morning peeps! What a wonderful week...
I can't believe we are almost through November! Christmas decorations are everywhere in the shops now and the crowds are growing larger and more frantic with each passing weekend. So I got thinking that it's about time I offered a quick, delicious and cost effective way to feed a crowd in this hearty season. What's not to love?!
The idea of this bread is to serve it whole on a wooden board so guests can take as much as they want. I recently served up two of these loaves for an outdoor picnic and they literally disappeared within minutes! If you have a large crowd in, it's probably easiest to prepare the loaves ahead of time and hide them in the pantry until the guests arrive. Then simply pop them in the oven and they'll be toasty fresh for picking. Nom nom!
This recipe starts with a large round loaf. You can either choose to make your own or simply buy a round loaf from your local bakery or supermarket. I like to make a large batch of dough and split it in half to form two loaves. I then shape them into loaves and cook them in 20cm cake pans. Somehow homemade bread is always tastier! You can purchase a good quality 20cm round cake pan here!
Anyway, simple as they sound they do deserve a little love. Using fresh garlic and making your own garlic butter definitely pays off. If you are really short of time you can get garlic butter from the supermarket however using fresh garlic definitely gives the bread a sharpness in flavour. You can also use pre grated cheese from the supermarket but grating your own mozzarella results in a wonderful stringy, gooey and oozy bread!
Anyway, I sure hope you enjoy making this bread as much as eating it! Share it with friends who deserve a little mozzerella in their lives and enjoy the rest of November....
Oh and of course, have a wonderful and productive week!
